In 1998, Janine L. Kimmel began to paint a series of vibrantly colorful doorways which would later be the inspiration for her illustrated children’s book, The Magic Gown. The first Magic Gown Project art installation was in 2000, when she donated four prints to The Center in Asbury Park, NJ, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. Intending to bring a sense of magic and wonder to the imaginative process, Janine is pursuing funding for the Magic Gown Project in order to donate installations of the prints of the original ten doorway paintings to children s hospitals, treatment centers and public spaces…
