Thirty-six year-old Indigo Tate has much going for her - but she’s stuck in the ghetto, and her one ambition is to get out; every day, crack cocaine, violence, and drive-bys grow more threatening. After what feels like forever, her dream is on the verge of finally coming true - but, when her husband finds nearly a million dollars missing from his celebrated training program for the poor, he is viciously assassinated. Indigo’s world soon comes crashing down as she becomes obsessed with bringing his assassins to justice, which thrusts her into a bitter political war that makes Viet Nam pale by comparison.
